AERO SPACE Kinross Fundraising Project

  • Submitted by: Jim Fairlie, Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 24 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07607

That the Parliament commends AERO SPACE Kinross for its plans to create a new space- and flight-themed museum at the former RAF Balado Bridge site, known locally for its distinctive golf ball-shaped Balado satellite ground station; understands that the proposal is to create a visitor attraction themed on flight and space exploration, and aims to create play-based informal STEM education to inspire young people to become scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians of the future; believes that AERO SPACE Kinross has joined with not-for-profit company Ethex to give people a chance to be part of the project’s progress as it aims to raise £500,000 towards land purchase and construction, having previously being awarded £1.5 million from the Tay Cities Deal, and wishes AERO SPACE Kinross every success in the latest phase of what it considers this exciting project.
