That the Parliament is delighted that the Rotary Club of Alloa is continuing in its international efforts of sending aid to Ukraine; understands that representatives from Clackmannanshire were recently in Edinburgh to meet with visiting Rotarians from Italy, having joined with a number clubs collectively working on the funding of specific projects to ensure that villages in Ukraine are not left without clean water or power, especially in light of reports that Russia has been recently targeting energy and water infrastructure in Ukraine with missile and drone strikes, including on New Year's Eve and New Year’s Day; believes that the project to supply professional water purification equipment, coupled with the project to ensure electric power generation to Ukrainian villages, are planned to be delivered through the Rotary Club of Warsaw City, which, it understands, has already formed a strong relationship with Rotary’s Scottish District 1010 clubs, with Alloa visiting the Warsaw Club in 2020; considers that the water project aims to supply four self-contained water purification units, each capable of supplying 800 litres of pure water per hour at an estimated cost of €25,000 per unit; acknowledges that the Alloa club is co-ordinating contributions from a number of other Scottish clubs, with around £7,000 being sent so far, and that the money raised at the Rotary Ceilidh in the Dunmar House Hotel, Alloa, on 6 January 2023 will add to the fund; notes that the international project has already raised 75% of the target; understands that RC Milano Nord will apply for a Rotary Foundation Global Grant to enhance donations by 80%, and commends the Rotary Club of Alloa, its members, fundraisers, donators and all its international partners on what it sees as their tireless, selfless and highly-dedicated work.
