Kirkwall Kayak Club Raises £1,900 for RNLI Kirkwall

That the Parliament commends the Kirkwall Kayak Club, who raised £1,900 for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) Kirkwall during their Flotilla of Lights paddle around Kirkwall Harbour on Hogmanay; understands that 15 kayaks adorned with Christmas lights were involved in the fundraising paddle from Hatston to the Kirkwall basin and marina, under the escort of the Kirkwall lifeboat crew in their daughter craft, Scapa Protector; recognises that the local RNLI team fundraised over £800 through refreshments provided on the night, helping to reach the £1,900 grand total, and thanks the organisers, all those who generously donated and gathered on the night to support what it considers as an excellent charitable effort.
