That the Parliament welcomes the Global 16 Days Campaign, which is due to begin on 25 November 2022; notes that this campaign is an annual international campaign, started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991, and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership; understands that the 16-day campaign is used as an organising strategy by individuals and organisations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls, including domestic violence and commercial sexual exploitation; highlights what it sees as the urgent need for any measures that target and tackle issues of violence affecting women and girls, and welcomes the events that are planned in Scotland to support the campaign, including events for frontline workers to raise awareness of trauma-informed practice for women who sell or exchange sex, a webinar on the influence of pornography in shaping attitudes and beliefs towards women, and in-depth discussions for relevant organisations on commercial sexual exploitation.
