  • Submitted by: Rona Mackay, Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 29 August 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05759

That the Parliament congratulates 10-year-old Thea Bingham for raising £1,111 for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity; understands that Thea asked her friends and family to donate to this worthy cause instead of buying a gift for her birthday party; is deeply touched by Thea’s thoughtful actions in thanking the hospital where her much-loved sister, Betsy, was cared for; applauds the best wishes and generosity of everyone who attended Thea’s birthday party; recognises the enormity of Thea’s decision, especially in view of birthday parties and similar gatherings having previously being paused due to COVID-19 risks; delights that the Children’s Hospital Charity can use these funds to create positive impact by supporting children and their families; commends Thea’s parents, Gilly and Matt, and her sister, Blythe, in supporting Thea’s decisions in planning how best to celebrate her special day, and honours the compassion and kindness of young people in thinking of the needs of other people.
