Janet MacLean Retires from Barra Airport after 38 Years

  • Submitted by: Alasdair Allan, Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 18 July 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05402

That the Parliament congratulates Janet MacLean, former supervisor of Barra Airport, on her retirement; understands that Janet joined Loganair Ltd in 1984 and that after 38 years of service, was the longest-serving employee at the company; notes her reputation as a committed and effective agent overseeing customer care, especially during periods of weather disruption and limited availability of on-island accommodation; further notes that Janet ran Barra Airport, which, it understands, is the only scheduled service to utilise a beach landing in the world, for nearly half of its existence as an airfield, and wishes her a long and happy retirement.
