  • Submitted by: Russell Findlay, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04834

That the Parliament recognises the Art for Ukraine charity auction, which took place on 8 May 2022; notes that it was held in collaboration between Glasgow Art Club, Paisley Art Institute, Natasha Raskin Sharp of Exhibit Auctions and the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain; expresses gratitude to 50 artists who each donated an item of their work; notes that these included Peter Howson, Marion Drummond, Philip Raskin, Gerard Burns, Peter Nardini, Helen Wilson, Rowena Comrie, Joe Hargan and Morag Muir; notes that bidders were addressed by Hannah Beaton-Hawryluk, chair of the Edinburgh branch of the association; understands that the auction, which was held online and at Glasgow Art Club, raised just over £25,000 for the Edinburgh branch of the association, which will use the money to support victims of Russia’s invasion of the country, and notes that the association provides assistance to people in Ukraine and to Ukrainians who have sought refuge in the United Kingdom.
