Edinburgh International Festival 2022 Programme and the Future of the Arts

That the Parliament congratulates Edinburgh International Festival on the launch of its 2022 programme and its continued work in communities across Edinburgh; welcomes the number of free events in the programme, in particular the MACRO event at BT Murrayfield on 5 August 2022, which will be a celebration of Australian and Scottish culture in circus, dance and music; notes what it sees as the positive role played by Edinburgh International Festival in supporting Scotland’s place on the world stage by welcoming artists from around the globe; further notes what it sees as the importance of the Edinburgh International Festival and other Edinburgh Festivals to the Edinburgh and wider Scottish economy, and notes the view that long-term sustainable funding is needed for the future success of Edinburgh International Festival and Scottish arts and culture.
