Firth of Forth Green Freeport

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 03 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04206

That the Parliament supports the vision for a Firth of Forth Green Freeport to create a green growth corridor; considers that a Firth of Forth Green Freeport will act as a catalyst for the re-industrialisation of Scotland and create economic development; notes that the bid has an ambition to create up to 50,000 high quality, green jobs in areas of local deprivation; believes that the scheme will make a major contribution to Scotland achieving its net zero carbon emissions targets, and understands that the bid will encompass key ports, industrial complexes and logistics centres along the shores of the Firth of Forth and at Edinburgh Airport, to create a green investment zone, including the Port of Grangemouth, Port of Leith and Port of Rosyth.
