The Value of Public Service Broadcasting to Scotland - Amendment

  • Submitted by: Alex Cole-Hamilton, Edinburgh Western, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 02 March 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03420.1

As an amendment to motion S6M-03420 in the name of Angus Robertson (The Value of Public Service Broadcasting to Scotland), leave out from "calls for BBC Scotland" to end and insert "notes that over 1,200 people in Scotland are employed by the BBC and that Channel 4 has reportedly spent £200 million in Scotland since 2007 and supports 400 jobs; condemns the reported online abuse that BBC journalists have received whilst they carry out their work, which is vital to the principle of public service broadcasting, and recognises the brave work currently being carried out by public service broadcast journalists to keep the people of Scotland informed of the ongoing situation in Ukraine."
