Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the fifth meeting in 2017 of the Local Government and Communities Committee. I remind everyone to turn off their mobile phones. As meeting papers are provided in digital format, tablets may be used by some members during the meeting. No apologies have been received this morning—we have a full house.
Agenda item 1 is a decision on taking business in private. The committee is invited to agree to take in private agenda item 6, which is consideration of its report on European Union scrutiny. Are we agreed?
Members indicated agreement.
Issues have been raised regarding Scottish statutory instruments 2017/8 and 2017/9, on non-domestic rates, which we were due to discuss under agenda item 3. I therefore intend to defer consideration of those instruments to our meeting on 22 February. Do members agree to that approach?
