Twelve Days of ASLEF

  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 20 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02586

That the Parliament notes the Twelve Days of ASLEF campaign, which it understands calls on the Scottish Government to get "Scotland back on track" with affordable, accessible and attractive rail for passengers and freight; understands that the campaign aims to remind the Scottish Government of the content of the report, A Vision for Scotland’s Railways, which was produced by rail unions and sets out the steps that the unions consider should be taken towards delivering a fully-staffed, world-class rail network, including public ownership of ScotRail, the rejection of the Docherty Report and an industrial strategy that recognises that rail can create jobs and growth; considers that sustained investment in rail is required to address the climate emergency and shift passengers and freight from road to rail, and further considers that ASLEF and other rail unions should be represented in the governance of any new publicly-owned rail operator.
