That the Parliament welcomes the news that Maidenhill Primary School and Nursery in Newton Mearns has been named as one of the 14 national architecture awards winners by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) for 2021; understands that the primary school offers a range of flexible spaces to support the learning and education of pupils, all arranged around a central atrium; recognises that, in the school, a comforting background to learning has been formulated through a restrained palette of colours and the design of the surrounding landscape, which provides pupils with space to explore; acknowledges that the buildings to achieve the 2021 RIAS prize include education and healthcare facilities, housing developments and a new sports centre; notes that the awards celebrate the incredible efforts of architects and the positive change that such work can deliver across Scotland, including through the delivery of better housing, supporting efforts to deal with climate change and celebrating culture and heritage; further notes that, as part of the process for determining the awarding of the RIAS prize, an assessment of buildings is carried out by an expert jury, which considers the architectural integrity, usability and content, delivery and execution and sustainability of various projects, and welcomes the commendation received by Maidenhill Primary School and Nursery and all of the other winners.
