Inspirational Glasgow Man with Cerebral Palsy Completes London Marathon

  • Submitted by: Dr. Sandesh Gulhane, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 24 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12952

That the Parliament congratulates Andrew Tomlinson, from Glasgow, who is a member of Bellahouston Road Runners, on completing the London Marathon in under four hours after completing five previous major marathons in Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York and Tokyo; understands that Andrew may be the first runner with cerebral palsy to complete all six of the world’s major marathons; notes that Andrew has hemiplegic hypertonia cerebral palsy, affecting his mobility down the left hand side of his body; understands that Andrew considers that keeping active helps him control his pain and makes the condition more bearable; congratulates Andrew on what it sees as a remarkable achievement of hard work and determination, and commends Andrew for raising funds for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and the My Name’5 is Doddie Foundation, and for, it believes, being a true inspiration.
