That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow electric vehicle firm, Munro Vehicles, on winning a UK Department for Business and Trade's Made in the UK, Sold to the World award; understands that the UK Government awards, now in their second year, celebrate outstanding small businesses that have achieved exporting success; notes that the winning businesses were drawn from a diverse range of 12 sectors across 10 categories; recognises that Glasgow-based Munro Vehicles, awarded in the Low Carbon Energy category, is a designer and manufacturer of fully-electric commercial vehicles, which exports to Europe, with a market presence in 16 countries; notes that the company’s mission is to develop and deliver next-generation zero-emission vehicles that help essential, but carbon-intensive, industries to transition to net zero; understands that the company is ranked as Scotland’s only “volume production” car company and plans to build 50 vehicles by mid-2024 before shifting to a new purpose-built site near Glasgow later in the year, creating up to 300 jobs; commends all of the team at Munro Vehicles for their hard work and dedication and wishes the company well as it looks to build on its success and to grow in markets further afield, and celebrates that the UK Government awards are helping to encourage other firms to follow the lead of companies like Munro Vehicles to export their goods and services around the world and maximise their global potential.
