Glasgow Warriors Plaster It Purple

That the Parliament commends Scotstoun-based professional rugby union team, Glasgow Warriors, on its continued fundraising for its official charity partner, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, through its annual Plaster It Purple match day; understands that Glasgow Warriors is now in its fourth year of hosting the Plaster It Purple event day, with its match against South Africa’s Sharks in the BKT United Rugby Championship on 19 April 2024 set to be the match dedicated to the campaign for 2024; acknowledges that, in 2023, the Plaster It Purple campaign raised more than £21,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, and that 2024 is set to be a record-breaking year, with the total amount pledged sitting at more than £30,000; notes that Glasgow Warriors has been working with supporters and grassroots rugby clubs, including Ardrossan Accies, GHK, Cambuslang and Strathclyde University Women to reach this target and raise funds for what it deems to be an important cause that supports babies, children and young people receiving treatment at Scotland’s largest children’s hospital; congratulates Glasgow Warriors on what it considers to be an outstanding achievement, and recognises what it sees as the important ongoing work of the rugby club.
