CLAN Cancer Support 2025 Sculpture Trail

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 09 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12751

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that CLAN Cancer Support will be delivering a new sculpture trail in 2025, in partnership with Wild In Art; notes that this will be the third trail project of its kind after Light The North in 2021 and The Big Hop Trail in 2023, which raised a combined total of over £520,000 for CLAN services; understands that the 2025 trail will see giant BookBench sculptures appearing across the north east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland between July and September 2025, each decorated with an individual design from invited artists; further understands that the BookBench sculpture, which is 1.4m wide and can seat two adults, was chosen because of the lifeline listening support service provided by CLAN, which enables anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis to open up and tell their story, and hopes that the project is as successful in raising funds as the previous two trails.
