Clydebank’s Happy Leaf Makes Impressive Strides in Plant Care

  • Submitted by: Marie McNair, Clydebank and Milngavie, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12732

That the Parliament recognises the Clydebank business, Happy Leaf, which was founded in 2022 by Amy Roberts and Iain Quinn, who are Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Masters graduates from the University of Strathclyde; notes that they are creating a smart sensor that is placed into the soil of a plant, which sends messages to a phone app explaining what care the plant needs; understands that they started the business after feeling plant care was complicated and confusing and set out to solve this problem; further understands that they are now building the minimum viable product (MVP) and focusing on building up momentum for their Kickstarter, which will be launched in July 2024; commends Amy and Iain for what it sees as their novel invention, which it considers will ensure that plants receive the best care, and wishes them all the best for the future.
