Celebrating Eid ul-Fitr 2024

  • Submitted by: Pam Gosal, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 02 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12705

That the Parliament extends its warm wishes to all those celebrating the festival of Eid ul-Fitr in Scotland, the UK, and across the world; understands that the joyous occasion follows 30 days of Ramadan, during which fasting occurs from dawn until dusk; further understands that it is a time to reflect on the values of Islam, emphasising family bonds and acts of charity; believes that, in a world where many face the impacts of war and adversity, these values hold even greater significance; recognises what it sees as the contributions of Muslims across Scotland, which span civic society, healthcare, including the NHS, education, business and politics; appreciates what it considers to be the efforts of Muslim communities to enrich Scottish culture and weave a stronger social fabric for Scotland; wishes for this Eid to bring joy, unity and compassion to all, and further wishes Eid Mubarak to all.
