Richard Fox of Buchlyvie Wins at Scottish Nature Photography Awards

  • Submitted by: Evelyn Tweed, Stirling, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 28 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12689

That the Parliament congratulates Richard Fox, of Buchlyvie, on being awarded the first prize in the Scottish Wildlife Portrait Category at the Scottish Nature Photography Awards for his image "Above and Beyond"; understands that "Above and Beyond" depicts a ringlet butterfly that had landed on a flower stalk and that Richard Fox has explained that he was out one evening near Loch Lomond and had found a new local colony of common blues, but was also revisiting this colony of ringlets, and that one advantage of evening photography is that butterflies start to settle down, particularly animated species, like the ringlet; notes that this was Richard's first time entering the Scottish Nature Photography Awards, and that he also had five other images shortlisted in other categories; further notes that the Scottish Nature Photography Awards were launched in 2010 to celebrate nature, wildlife and landscape photography in Scotland, and is organised by Perspectives partners N and J Irvine, and wishes Richard Fox future success with his photography.
