Action from Community Green Initiative - Denny and Dunipace

  • Submitted by: Michael Matheson, Falkirk West, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 28 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12675

That the Parliament recognises the hard work of a dedicated community group in Denny and Dunipace called the Community Green Initiative (CGI); understands that CGI carries out local litter picks, pushes for improvements to its local environment and parks, and works with partners on public information initiatives to make them more aware of their impact on their local community; understands that CGI carried out a litter pick on 16 March 2024, which was assisted by over 30 people who collected 60 bags of litter along the River Carron in the space of two hours, including those from the 51st Dennyloandhead Scout Group, Inspire Denny and Dunipace, and local members of the public; further understands that CGI has been doing this vital work since becoming constituted in 2006, with notable projects, including recent improvements to Herbertshire Castle Park, locally known as the Gala Park, which, in partnership with Falkirk Council and funding from the Scottish Government, upgraded the play park to be more accessible for families with children who have varying physical and additional support needs; believes that the group has also been instrumental in getting Denny and Dunipace a Pump Track for locals to enjoy, and congratulates CGI on its work on projects to make the local area better and for achieving a Level 5 for Outstanding Certificate from Keep Scotland Beautiful for all of its work.
