Falkirk High School in the SPEN Warriors School Championship

  • Submitted by: Michael Matheson, Falkirk West, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 27 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12673

That the Parliament recognises the hard work of Falkirk High School pupils in participating in the SPEN Warriors School Championship and wishes them all the very best in the championship ahead of the final taking place in May 2024; understands that SP Energy Networks has established the SPEN Warriors School Championship to improve access to grassroots level rugby by enabling schools across the country to play in matches in a formal competition; believes that the championship promotes teamwork and healthy lifestyles, while also removing barriers, to support the emerging talent and demonstrate that rugby is for everyone; understands that SP Energy Networks is also supporting the development of STEM skills, with a focus on women and girls, and further understands that SPEN and Glasgow Warriors work in partnership to run STEM initiatives throughout the year for pupils across Scotland, and demonstrate that STEM skills do not only apply to engineering, but other sectors, including sport.
