That the Parliament welcomes the inclusion of the University of Dundee’s Centre for Protein Degradation (CeTPD) in a new, global effort to tackle some of the most significant challenges posed by cancer; recognises that the Cancer Grand Challenges Summit of 2024 is dedicated to bringing together "the world’s brightest minds against cancer’s toughest challenges", and that researchers from around the globe have participated, including professors Alessio Ciulli and Doreen Cantrell from Dundee; understands that CeTPD Director, Professor Alessio Ciulli, is a recognised leader in the field of targeted protein degradation who plans to collaborate with other international experts to explore new means of tackling solid tumours in children; believes that the inclusion of Professor Ciulli and his colleagues in a team with unrivalled expertise in targeted paediatric cancer therapeutics is testament to the excellence of cancer research taking place at the University of Dundee; considers this project to be the latest example of work that has earned the University of Dundee a world-class reputation for life sciences, with the University rated first in the UK for Biological Sciences in the Research Excellence Framework 2021; notes what it considers to be the immense contribution of the University of Dundee to the wider Tayside economy, and wishes Professor Ciulli and his colleagues every success as they collaborate with partners in pursuit of life-saving new treatments.
