  • Submitted by: Annabelle Ewing, Cowdenbeath, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 29 February 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12316

That the Parliament congratulates Iain Chalmers, from Cowdenbeath, on being selected as a member of the National Mining Museum of Scotland Collections Trust; understands that the Trust aims to maintain, protect and extend its collection for the benefit of future generations with coal mining roots and the wider public in Scotland; further understands that the National Mining Museum for Scotland cares for the Lady Victoria Colliery and the national coal mining collections, which boast over 100,000 items, including objects, archives, photographs and books; understands that Iain had previously worked at the Lady Victoria Colliery, and has been involved with it since then; recognises that Iain also established the Save the Cage project, which is set to bring mining heritage items to Lochore Meadows, where artefacts will be installed close to the Mary Pit Head; thanks Iain for what it sees as his dedication to preserving the history of the local coal mining communities in Fife, and across Scotland, and wishes him all the best in his new role.
