Scottish Power Customers and Staff Raise £40 Million for Cancer Research UK

  • Submitted by: Monica Lennon, Central Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 27 February 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12294

That the Parliament congratulates Scottish Power’s customers and staff on reaching £40 million raised for longstanding charity partner, Cancer Research UK (CRUK); understands that Scottish Power’s staff and customers have supported CRUK since 2012 in its mission to help create a world where people can live longer, better lives that are free from cancer; believes that what it sees as this incredible milestone has been reached through a wide range of initiatives, including Scottish Power’s Help Beat Cancer energy tariff, employee and customer fundraising, as well as sponsorship of Race for Life events across the UK and Stand Up To Cancer campaigns, and acknowledges and shares CRUK’s ambition to accelerate progress so that, by 2034, three in four people will survive their cancer for at least 10 years.
