Inverness Restaurant Collects Donations for Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal

  • Submitted by: Edward Mountain, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 21 February 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07963

That the Parliament acknowledges the efforts of Aspendos, an Inverness restaurant owned by Mustafa Calisir, in its successful appeal for donations of clothes, blankets and sleeping bags to aid victims of the Turkish and Syrian earthquake disaster; understands that this appeal is close to Mustafa Calisir’s heart as he tragically lost four of his friends in the earthquakes; notes that after sending out the appeal, the restaurant was flooded by the support of many people in the Inverness community who came forward with an offering to the cause; acknowledges that, due to the volume of contributions, the restaurant can no longer accept donations, and sends its thoughts to all those affected by these natural disasters in Turkey and Syria.
