Geoff Brown Donates Net Proceeds to the St Johnstone Community Trust

  • Submitted by: Liz Smith, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 14 December 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-07231

That the Parliament applauds Geoff Brown, majority shareholder at St Johnstone Football Club, who announced the sale of the club and is donating his net proceeds to the St Johnstone Community Trust; acknowledges the long legacy of Geoff Brown at St Johnstone, from taking control in 1986 to building the McDiarmid Park stadium and implementing a successful financial structure; recognises the success of St Johnstone during his time as Chairman and his successor and son, Steve Brown, under whom the extraordinary 2021 domestic cup double was achieved, and commends what it sees as the selfless act of donating proceeds to the St Johnstone Community Trust, which will be of immense benefit to the local community.
