That the Parliament acknowledges the awards of a Professorship to Melanie Smith, Vice-Principal of Academic and Research, and Vicky Johnson, Director of the Centre for Living, from the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI); understands that this award has come as recognition of their work and international reputations in the fields of ecology and conservation by Professor Smith and in sustainability and rights for marginalised communities by Professor Johnson; believes that the award of Professorships is a reflection of the valued contribution Professors Smith and Johnson have made to the reputation of UHI; notes that the achievements of both Professors will be celebrated at the UHI Inverness graduation ceremony on 29 September 2022, and offers its congratulations Professors Smith and Johnson on this fantastic achievement.
