Coatbridge Resident Helps Raise over £42,000 through Long-distance Cycle

  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 August 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05583

That the Parliament congratulates Coatbridge resident Janet Hancock on completing a 300 mile virtual cycle in order to raise money for the food charity Vitamin Angels UK and Theodora Children’s Charity; understands that the fundraiser was held by staff from Alliance Healthcare who raised over £42,000 for the chosen charities; notes that participants made it their goal to cycle a combined distance of 1,000 km; praises Janet’s determination as an injury she received meant she could not take part in the actual cycle, but decided to contribute by cycling the distance on a static bike, and understands that Janet inspired 16 of her colleagues to exceed the target distance by a combined total of 820 miles, which was invaluable for boosting the fundraising total.
