Recognising Mary Gilfillan’s Service to the Community

That the Parliament recognises Mary Gilfillan, from Newmains, on her service to the local community; notes that Mary has served as the Newmains and District Gala Day Committee Secretary for over 14 years, and has previously organised a Girls Group at St Brigid’s Church in Newmains, as well as a Kids Group that arranged day trips across Scotland for children from the village; understands that Mary was a member of the Committee that brought to life the community’s ideas for the Newmains Community Trust, a community-owned facility, which runs groups and classes, and includes conference space and meeting rooms to hire, and a community cafe, Centre Perk, which offers hearty meals and home-baking; notes that Mary was an ASDA Champion for the community when in her employment at ASDA Newmains, where she helped many local good causes, and is currently a volunteer with Dallies Diners’ Food Bank, based in Newmains; thanks Mary for her dedication and drive to serve her local community through volunteer work, and wishes her all the best for the future.
