RNLI Girvan

  • Submitted by: Elena Whitham, Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02543

That the Parliament commends the vital services provided by all the volunteers of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), particularly the crew of RNLI Girvan Lifeboat, who recently attended a seven-hour call-out to a yacht experiencing engine failure; understands that the all-weather lifeboat was launched and soon made headway to support the casualty near Ballantrae, and that with the yacht’s engine having failed and no wind to utilise the sail, it was decided that the best course of action was to take the vessel under tow to Troon, and wishes RNLI Girvan success for the future.
