Question
To ask the Scottish Government how many disclosure checks have been processed by Disclosure Scotland in each year since 2016.
Answer
I have asked Gerard Hart, Chief Executive of Disclosure Scotland to respond. His response is as follows:
The following table details processed disclosure applications, by application type, from 2016 to 2023:

Standard and enhanced disclosures | 22,554 | 22,639 | 21,468 | 21,936 | 20,955 | 29,338 | 34,128 | 26,578 |

Scheme membership statement (countersigned) | 895 | 951 | 911 | 791 | 663 | 941 | 1,166 | 1,515 |
Total | 1,818,579 | 2,028,303 | 647,409 | 565,550 | 461,047 | 610,255 | 614,373 | 588,042 |
Note 1: A processed application incorporates all stages between an application being received and processed though to conclusion with a paper or digital certificate being issued.
Note 2: The decrease in the number of processed applications in 2018 reflects the delegation of English basic disclosures to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) from 2018 onwards.
