Question

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the Animal Welfare (Electronic Collars) (England) Regulations 2023 being laid before the UK Parliament, whether it will provide an update on its policy regarding the use of electric shock collars on dogs.


Answer

The Scottish Government welcomes the recent Scottish Animal Welfare Commission (SAWC) report on handheld remote-controlled training devices (e-collars).

We are considering all their findings carefully as part of our ongoing commitment to improve and enhance animal welfare.
