Question
To ask the Scottish Government who the members are of the NHS targets review committee; what the review's remit is; when it will be completed and the findings published; what plans it has for the review to have cross-party (a) representation and (b) engagement; whether it will invite the Health and Sport Committee to have a role with the review and, if so, what this will be, and whether there any specific NHS targets or guarantees that will not be included in the review.
Answer
The Scottish Government recognise that the health and sport committee considered NHS targets, as part of their work around the scrutiny of NHS board budgets, during the last parliamentary session.
In developing a review of NHS targets, the Scottish Government is currently considering the membership of the NHS review of targets expert group. The review will consider whether the targets for the NHS in Scotland support improved outcomes for patients; are consistent with and support our strategic priorities; and are an efficient use of resources.
The expert group will report to ministers and the Scottish Government will publish the report this financial year 2016-17. We will engage with the health and sport committee and political parties as part of the review.
