Question

To ask the Scottish Government how many clinical nurse specialists are employed by the NHS.


Answer

As at 30 September 2015 there were 2,035.3 whole time equivalent (WTE) clinical nurse specialists in NHSScotland – an increase of 689.1 WTE, or 51.2 per cent under this government*.

In 2015-16 this government invested over £2.4 million of recurring funding to enhance access to specialist nursing and care, including the appointment of additional specialist nurses in NHS boards.
