Question

To ask the Scottish Government how it plans to reach its target of 100% superfast broadband by 2021.

Answer

Our investment through the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme will make an important contribution, extending fibre broadband coverage to at least 95% of premises by the end of 2017. As announced in the programme for government, we intend to launch procurement activity to deliver new public investment aimed at meeting our commitment to provide 100% coverage across Scotland, in 2017. As a first step, we published a prior information notice on 9 September 2016 to provide potential suppliers with information on the project and to seek views on their capacity to deliver.
