Question
To ask the Scottish Executive whether it plans to introduce legislation to give local authorities enhanced powers to deal with businesses that do not maintain their buildings adequately.
Answer
Powers are already available to local authorities under the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 to intervene where owners allow their building to become defective or dangerous.
