Question

To ask the Scottish Government what action Police Scotland is taking to tackle men’s violence against women.

Answer

Since its inception, Police Scotland has made tackling men’s violence against women a key priority.

This includes setting up specialist investigation units for domestic abuse and rape in every local policing division throughout Scotland to investigate and provide specialist assistance in relation to incidents of domestic abuse; stalking and harassment; and rape and sexual offences.

In March 2014, Police Scotland launched the ‘We Can Stop It’ national rape awareness campaign and this week, Police Scotland announced the piloting of a disclosure scheme for domestic abuse, known as ‘Clare’s Law’.
