Accessible Toilet Access Improvements Needed

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 November 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-08767
  • Current status: Achieved cross-party support

That the Parliament notes that there are a number of toilets in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire that operate under the National Key Scheme where disabled people can apply for a key that will unlock accessible toilets; believes, however, that many of these are not of public knowledge; notes calls for more to be done to raise awareness of this scheme among disabled people, and for charities and groups in the area to improve the use of the scheme, and considers that more needs to be done to improve accessibility for disabled people to ensure that nothing impedes their ability to take part and enjoy social outings and leisure facilities.
