HIV and Education

  • Submitted by: Jenny Gilruth, Mid Fife and Glenrothes, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 26 September 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07878

That the Parliament welcomes HIV Scotland’s new report, HIV and Education: Guaranteeing Lessons for All; recognises that comprehensive sexual health education plays a fundamental role in equipping young people with the knowledge they need to prevent the risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections; understands that two young people aged 15 to 24 are diagnosed with HIV every month in Scotland, and believes that, by ensuring young people are given the right information and knowledge on HIV, they will be able to minimise their risk and help Scotland contribute to the global mission to end new HIV transmissions.
