Basque Country Children of the Spanish Civil War

That the Parliament applauds Gallo Rojo, Na-Mara, the Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival and the Basque Children '37 Association for coming together to bring a taste of the Basque country to Edinburgh; acknowledges that 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of the arrival of 4,000 children from the region who fled violence following the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War; appreciates that a special performance will be held at 8.30pm on 6 October 2017 at the Jaffle Joint in Portobello to celebrate the support that was given to the children on their arrival, which was provided by volunteers, churches and trade unions, and hopes that the event is a success.
