  • Motion reference: S5M-02984

That the Parliament congratulates the Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust on winning the Community Led Regeneration Award at the 2016 SURF Awards, which were held in Glasgow on 6 December 2016; understands that the trust was established in 2012, with the support of the Cairngorm National Park, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Moray Council and the Crown Estate, to address economic decline in the area; understands that the trust's efforts are focused on Tomintoul, Glenlivet and the surrounding communities, including Glenfarclas, Cragganmore, Morinish and Bridge of Brown; praises the trust for the work it has done to regenerate these Speyside communities, including the takeover of the Smugglers Hostel and the running of the Tomintoul Visitor Information Centre and Museum; recognises that the trust aims to make the Tomintoul and Glenlivet area a better place to live, work and play for local residents and visitors, and that great efforts have been made to develop a unique and varied events programme for these communities; commends the efforts of the trust's board and staff, who it considers are playing a vital role in the regeneration of this unique area, and wishes the trust continued success in the future.
