  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 07 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02964

That the Parliament congratulates Street League on winning the Youth Employability Award at 2016’s SURF Awards; understands that Street League, which is the UK's leading sport for employment charity, offers a combined sport and employability programme that uses football and dance fitness sessions as hooks to engage out-of-work young people and help them progress into employment, education and training; acknowledges that Street League offers a number of services in the Lothian region, including programmes in Sighthill and Pilton in Edinburgh and Bathgate in West Lothian; considers that Street League’s work is innovative and important and has helped a significant number of out-of-work young people in Scotland go on to positive destinations; commends all those involved in Street League, including the many employment partners who support its work placements, and wishes Street League continued success in future as it works with young people in communities.
