  • Current status: Achieved cross-party support

That the Parliament recognises the work of the Council of Voluntary Organisations (East Ayrshire) (CVOEA); understands that CVOEA operates a number of highly successful initiatives across East Ayrshire, including the Ayrshire (East) Foodbank and GRAFT, which is a multi-faceted project aiming to alleviate the effects of poverty by offering a route into volunteering for people who might otherwise be excluded from the process, and offers affordable services, such as home and garden maintenance to the most vulnerable and economically challenged in East Ayrshire communities; notes that other initiatives include the Community Connectors service, which operates across every East Ayrshire GP practice to strengthen links between primary care and non-medical community support services; further understands that CVOEA operates WG13, a social enterprise café/restaurant designed to address the lack of employment and training opportunities for young people with additional supports needs, giving them experience of working in a commercial environment and the opportunity to gain accredited qualifications provided by Ayrshire College; believes that the work of CVOEA and other third sector organisations play a vital role in improving the life chances of those in society in the greatest need; commends the staff and volunteers of CVOEA and its partner organisations for their impressive achievements; thanks them for their efforts, and wishes them and their service users continued success in the future.
