Aberdeen Hydrogen Bus Project Award Success

That the Parliament congratulates everyone at Aberdeen City Council on it winning the Commercial Partnerships category at the Scottish Public Service Awards in recognition of the success of its Hydrogen Bus Project; understands that the £21 million-project has involved public and private sector partners, Aberdeen Renewable Energy, Scottish Enterprise, Technology Strategy Board, Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution, the Scottish Government, BOC, Van Hool, First, Stagecoach, Scotland Gas Networks and Element Energy, and is part of the Joint Initiative for Hydrogen Vehicles across Europe (JIVE), which is a project that aims to commercialise hydrogen fuel cell buses across Europe and which, if it receives the necessary support from the Scottish Government and other partners, will aim to introduce additional hydrogen buses into the Aberdeen City Council fleet; commends everyone involved with the Aberdeen project on the success of the scheme in general and at the recent awards, and looks forward to more hydrogen-powered buses on the streets of Scotland.
