Congratulations to Margaret Ann Norrie

  • Submitted by: Maurice Corry, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 05 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02932

That the Parliament congratulates Margaret Ann Norrie on being announced as the joint winner of the Going the Extra Mile Award along with Tracy Tucker of Wales at Marie Curie’s annual Peacock Awards; understands that Margaret Ann has worked with Marie Curie since 2008 and that she works across Argyll and Bute and regularly braves bad weather conditions to travel to remote areas, including on ferries, travelling on occasion over 40 miles to visit people in their homes; further understands that the nationwide awards, now in their fourth year, give the organisation an opportunity to showcase the excellent care and innovation demonstrated by staff across the charity; notes that it celebrates teams and individuals who are nominated by their colleagues for consistently showing commitment to delivering the best care to people living with terminal illness and support for their loved ones, and believes that the awards are named after the Peacock Charitable Trust, which is a long-standing supporter of Marie Curie.
