Riverside Youth Band

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 05 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02925

That the Parliament congratulates the talented musicians of the Riverside Youth Band from Inverclyde on it being crowned the winner of the under-16 section of the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships; notes that this follows the band's success in 2015 when it scooped the under-14s title; acknowledges that prestigious events such as these championships offer great opportunities for talented young players from Inverclyde and across Scotland to represent their teachers and families with pride by performing challenging music in top-class concert halls; understands that this was the Riverside Youth Band’s first year performing in the older age category, and believes that the band's members should be extremely proud of their performance.
