Asda’s Tickled Pink Breast Cancer Charity Fundraising Success

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 05 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02918

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Asda’s Tickled Pink fundraising campaign for breast cancer charities, launched in 1996, has exceeded the £50 million milestone in its 20th year, with a total of £51.5 million now raised, with more than £5 million of that total in Scotland by Asda’s Scottish stores and supporters; notes that Tickled Pink benefits the charities Breast Cancer Now and Breast Cancer Care; is aware that the funding raised has supported Breast Cancer Now’s research, including the development of what it believes is the first-ever Breast Cancer Tissue Bank at the University of Dundee, and Breast Cancer Care’s specialist support services for women, men, families and friends affected by breast cancer; commends Asda for initiating the Tickled Pink campaign and all its staff, suppliers and customers for their outstanding fundraising events and efforts and generous donations to these, and wishes Tickled Pick continuing success as it raises money to invest in new cancer treatments and assist people with cancer and their families across Scotland.
