Recognising Victoria Hospital's Parkinson's Team

  • Submitted by: James Dornan, Glasgow Cathcart, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 05 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02913

That the Parliament congratulates the multi-disciplinary Parkinson’s team based at the New Victoria Hospital in the Glasgow Cathcart constituency on the high-quality support that it offers to people with Parkinson’s and unpaid carers in the south of Glasgow and surrounding area; recognises the commitment and hard work of NHS staff based at the hospital in delivering the service; understands that the service has developed and improved over the last 22 years by listening to people who use the service, responding to their needs and working with voluntary sector organisations such as Parkinson’s UK and the Carers Trust to provide person-centred care, and believes that everyone living with Parkinson’s and related degenerative conditions, such as progressive supranuclear palsy and multiple system atrophy, should have access to expert multi-disciplinary support such as that provided at the Victoria Hospital from the point of diagnosis onwards.
