Recognising Moray Citizens Advice Bureau's Contribution to the Local Community

  • Submitted by: Douglas Ross, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 01 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02892

That the Parliament recognises the excellent work done by the staff and volunteers of the Moray Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) from its base in Elgin and from its outreach services in Keith, Buckie, Forres, Lossiemouth, Tomintoul and Dufftown; considers that Moray CAB does a fantastic job in assisting clients while also providing valuable support to the many volunteers who share the desire to help their fellow citizens; believes that, without these volunteers, the Moray community would have no source of free, independent, impartial, confidential advice or information and support; notes that in 2015-16 the service provided help to 4,346 clients and dealt with 6,897 enquiries on a range of issues, while in some cases merely provided a listening ear, which can be of great help to clients; sends its best wishes to the staff and volunteers of the service, which is managed by Sandra Dow, and thanks the Moray CAB for the important role that it continues to play in the community.
